Species Ecological Consultancy is led by

Dr Matthew J. Clarke an experienced, all round ecological consultant with over 15 years providing a common sense, practical approach to the resolution of ecological issues. Prior to launching Species, Matthew was Associate Director at a large ecological consultancy in the South of England for approaching 10 years.  Matthew holds a PhD from The University of Bristol and has developed a wide range of ecological skills including botany, herpetology, ornithology and mammalogy - including bats, dormice, water voles and badgers.  Matthew is a bat specialist and holds Natural England survey and mitigation licences, including over 50 European Protected Species Licences for development sites. 

Our head office is in Bournemouth in the South of England but we also have offices in Shropshire and Suffolk.

Matthew is a Full Member of The Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and a Chartered Environmentalist. Matthew is also a Committee Member of Hampshire Bat Group.
